Abstract
A book that is quite difficult to classify from a generic point of view, W or the memory of childhood (1975) by Georges Perec offers an unprecedented form of a life story, alternating between a fictional story and an autobiographical text whose defining features are incoherence, oscillation, groping and uncertainty. Our aim is to study the way in which the truth about oneself is revealed by Perec through fiction in a biased, concealed way. Fiction and truth sometimes show different facets of the same reality, especially when it comes to the perception of one’s own existence.
Abstract
Livre difficile à classer du point de vue générique, W ou le souvenir d’enfance (1975) de Georges Perec propose une forme inouïe de récit de vie, faisant alterner une histoire fictionnelle et un texte autobiographique dont les traits définitoires sont l’incohérence, l’oscillation, le tâtonnement et l’incertitude. Nous nous proposons ici d’étudier la manière dont la vérité sur soi est révélée par Perec d’une manière biaisée, dissimulée, par l’entremise de la fiction. La fiction et la vérité se montrent parfois les facettes différentes d’une même réalité, notamment quand il s’agit de la perception de sa propre existence.
