The present study aims at depicting the true identity of the people that protested in the streets during Romania’s #Rezist movement in 2017 against the government’s rules and regulations regarding the judiciary system. Through content analysis of the slogans used during the street protests, the present paper tries to identify the linguistic markers of #Rezist protesters’ identity, suggesting a typology for it. Having as a theoretical background Social Identity Theory and Self-Categorization Theory, the paper equally seeks to show how these types and subtypes of the protesters’ identity aim at getting a persuasive effect.
