The paper is based on a contrastive analysis between two types of verbal interaction: the casual conversation and the discussion (as we consider the classroom talk to be). It is meant to illustrate the fact that the setting, the type of interaction, the aim, the character and the structure of the exchange, the type of relationships established between interlocutors, the spatial and temporal limits, as well as the style used establish certain differences between the casual conversation and the discussion although they are based on a common paradigm: the exchange of messages in face-to-face social interactions. |
