Abstract
This paper represents an investigation into Romanian phraseological corpus of the dishes made out of cereals (pastry) from a cultural perspective, in a context where, it is only more recently that the cultural foundation of phraseology has been duly noticed as playing an important role. The dishes made out of cereals show a different valorization on the level of the phraseological imaginary according to the space that defines them. Some are marked by the intimate space of family relationships that often lie under the sign of the ritual, and others are defined by the open space of trade relationships and often situated under the sign of the risible.
