The present study tries to analyse the manner in which the discourse of Romanian street protests, manifested through banners and slogans written in English, gets the structure of an action meant, on the one hand, to express the protestors’ dissatisfaction, and, on the other hand, to unite people that share common beliefs about specific problems. Advertisements, through images, slogans and titles, construct a certain reality that reflects the mentalities and attitudes of a society in a certain period of history. Starting from the idea that advertising is an indicator of attitudes, the paper analyses the changing attitudes of the Americans across centuries. It tries to depict the cultural changes of the American society (from 1900’s to the XXI-st century) and the way in which these changes are reflected in the language used in the catchy slogans and titles for Coca-Cola.
