This article illustrates how information and communication technologies for education (ICTE) can encourage new teaching methods, in particular in the field of foreign languages. After emphasizing the skills and the roles of the teacher, the concepts of learning and educational technology, information and communication, the different ways the ICTE may favourably affect motivation of learners and that of teachers will be examined. In the next years, the main challenge will be to develop learners’ capacity to prepare for the teachers’ use of media and to exploit the diversity of ICTE.
