Abstract
The Romanian heritage is very rich in traditions, rituals and superstitions associated with meals, most of them unknown to a large segment of the population nowadays. The aim of our paper is to reveal the ritualistic values of meals associated with some Romanian celebrations (Easter) and of everyday meals as a statement of the vast national intangible heritage. Our broader aim is to promote aspects of Romanian cultural life from the visible and invisible Romanian cultural heritage at a national and international level. This paper aims to respond to the cultural need of asserting cultural identity by rediscovering Romanian food-related practices and meanings as elements of cultural identity. The research methodology combines methods of cultural and ethnographic studies: literature review and field survey.
